    Hello,

    I have 2 questions.

    1. Welkin Suite has a nice feature called auto update of the program itself. But sometimes it doesn't work for unknown reason. Is there a way to force the auto update so that I don't need to download the whole package and install it manually?

    2. Every couple of month we have to change our password of our login and a new security token is sent. But when I enter the new password and token in the project settings, Welkin Suite keeps saying that they are incorrect. Only thing I can do then is delete the whole project and create it again. What am I doing wrong here?

      Hi Frank,

      Thank you for your questions.

As for the first one, we admit that there were some issues with the auto updater service. The known cases were already fixed. So I want to ask you, please send us the log.txt file. It’s present in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\The Welkin Suite\The Welkin Suite\UpdaterService. It will be very helpful for us to investigate of this concrete case.

The issue about the credentials is included to our current sprint. The work on it is already in progress. Therefore, password and security token will be saved correctly in  the next versions of TWS.

I will inform you about the update of TWS and the fix of this issue

      Thank you,

      Kate

Well, there is no log.txt file in the updaterservice folder. What should I do?

          Hi Frank,

Today we released a new version of TWS. This version includes improved auto-updater logging.

If TWS doesn’t get updated automatically during  this day, then you should manually update it again.

The further actions from our side will be the following: if autoupdate gets failed during the next release of the new version of TWS, we will get the detailed information about the reason of this failure. We will appreciate your help with this.

In general, autoupdate service verifies presence of a new version every 10 minutes and updates The Welkin Suite after it is restarted. There may be a case when a new version is downloaded by autoupdate service but something  goes wrong and it cannot be installed locally. Exactly for this case we have implemented additional logging.

The issue about incorrect saving of credentials was fixed in this (0.22.15) version of TWS too.

We are grateful for you using The Welkin Suite.

          Kate

            Hello Kate,

The new update 22.16 didn't auto update. But as I said there is no log file in the UpdaterService folder. There is only one file called WelkinSuite.AutoUpdater.exe. I have checked the services in config panel and the Update Service is running.

Should I do something to enable logging?

              Hi Frank,

All logging in The welkin Suite is enabled by default, so you don’t need to do anything.

Additional logging is implemented for the MSI, but for the issue related to the automatic updates, this gives no useful information. We are going make this more detailed in the nearest couple of weeks.

As a side note, in the process of investigating this issue, we found out that the times between calls of the AutoUpdater service are not every 10 minutes, like I said earlier, but every 6 hours. That’s why the most optimal way to get a new version of TWS automatically is to leave your PC with TWS closed for a night.

              Thank you,
              Kate

                  Hi.

Thank you for the additional details from your log file, because of this we now see the reason of the failed auto-update of TWS. The reason for this is, it is attempting to install the AutoUpdate service, which is already present locally because it was installed during the installation of the IDE. This service should be removed during the AutoUpdate process and then re-instaled, but this is not happening.

Our task is to understand the reason for such behavior. TWS team is investigating this.

                  Thank you,

                  Kate

                      Hi,

                      Thank you for your question.

The Welkin Suite uses global proxy configuration on your machine. There is no ability to change this currently for the IDE.

I kindly ask you to verify if there is the 'log.txt' file in the next folder: C:\Program Files(x86)\ The Welkin Suite\The Welkin Suite\UpdaterService.

If it is present there, please send it to us.

One more question: what version of the IDE do you have now?

                      Thank you,

                      Kate

                          Thank you for your reply.

I'll keep you updated when the issue related to the auto-update  service will be solved.

When the next version of TWS will be available, I kindly ask you to leave your computer on for the night, but keep TWS closed.

Please let us know if the IDE will be updated during that time.

I had to update the password and token on the sandbox for a project.
went in an  updated the password and token via the Project Info but now I still get Failed Login to the server.  I have closed and open the project.
