One of the few things I miss from Eclipse is the schema browser/query builder. It would be nice if TWS could get me closer to totally forgetting about Eclipse.

I don't know if this is the best way but I am thinking that in the SOQL query editor, you could have a new button for Insert Fields. When clicked, it would pop-up a new window similar to the Pull Data From SFDC or Project Metadata pop-ups.

At the top would be a drop-down control containing all the standard and custom objects in the org. In the middle would be a set of checkboxes, one for each standard and custom field in the selected object type. At the bottom would be a text area that contains a comma-separated list of each checked field. Maybe a "Copy Fields" button at the bottom that puts that text area to the copy/paste buffer. Probably include " from object_type__c" and the end, maybe include the "select " at the start.

This would make it a lot easier to build queries. Today, I have to flip back and forth to the object definition file to copy out the API names into the SOQL.

      Hi Dave,

Thank you for your suggestion and for the detailed example of its implementation.

Our developers start their work on improving the SOQL editor inside The Welkin Suite IDE. These changes will be released in the further versions of TWS.

Please follow the updates on TWS Blog to get news about the updated SOQL functionality.

        Hi Dave,

I want to inform you that the advanced SOQL executor is already implemented in The Welkin Suite for Mac. You can read more detailed information about it here.

Currently, our developers are working on adding the same functionality to the Spire version of the IDE. Soon you will have an ability to test the enhanced SOQL executor in Windows version of TWS.

        Regards,

        Kate

          Hi Dave,

The advanced SOQL Executor is already present in The Welkin Suite for Windows. The list of queryable objects with their fields and child relations is available for you and the query builder can help you greatly in your working process. All this functionality is implemented in Spire R8 version of the IDE.

We will be happy to get your feedback about our changes.

          Regards,

          Kate
