Can someone from TWS dev team comment on the implications of the coming Salesforce DX initiative on the TWS? Are you planning for this? Is it disruptive? Is it a blessing? I know it's early, but thought I would ask the question. Some related materials... Keynote on DX (32:22) https://youtu.be/RMKFTLtn0-E?t=1942

      Hi Kurt,

Thanks for a great question! And a very complex one.

In general, we are very optimistic about the SalesforceDX approach that Salesforce is going to implement and looking forward seeing it in work and implementing full support as soon as possible.

We are participating in all programs around the DX so we are aware about the plans and will do our best to provide support for the new features - ideally before they'll go GA.

Speaking of SalesforceDX in general - it is great that finally Salesforce is moving towards source-driven development for Salesforce thus there won't be any need in building complex workarounds to get comfortable development flow with proper version control, branches, code reviews, CI, etc. However, it is too early to give more precise answer if it would make development life as easy as anywhere else - many factors might (and will) change before going GA.

      Thank you,

      Vladimir

Okay, glad to here you guys are on it. Not surprise base on your forward thinking already displayed by putting TWS together to fill that obvious IDE gap. I am in the DX Pilot (as far as I can tell...) so I will be interested to see how the TWS and the DX concept shakes out. I agree that it should make life easier for you, and SF says they are going to continue to robustly support 3rd party IDE's. Thanks for the update, I appreciate the openess of the TWS staff, helps me be a strong supporter.

          Hi Kurt,

Thank you for your kind words!

It will be very interesting for us to see where this Pilot goes with time, and the more opinions on this, hopefully bright, future we have - the better support we can implement. So if you would have any ideas, comments or inspirations based on the DX Pilot - please don't hesitate to contact us or email me, I will be more than happy to discuss with you.

          Thank you,

          Vladimir
