I am working on a project in TWS last couple of months. Today, I had an unpleasant surprise when I wanted to open the solution. TWS updated itself to newest version and told me to redownload the project. I suppose I have to create a new solution now and download metadata again, right? Any idea or best practice how I can do this and not losing a couple of months of git history becuase new solution will physically create new folder with metada?

Thank you for your contacting us with this information.
Our developers are investigating the issue related to migration the files history into a new project.
This time, I kindly ask you follow the next steps:
- please download all the same metadata that was present in the previous project to a new project;
- after this, please open the folder with the previous project, there you can find '.git' folder; this can be the hidden file;
- copy this folder and paste to the new project folder;
- please open the 'Version control' panel inside the IDE for your newly created project.
I kindly ask you to let us know if this helps you to restore your files history.
In addition, please send us your Activity Log file after the issue related to failed opening of your project is reproduced. You can do this using the following way: Main menu -> Help -> Report a Bug, please enter the link to this topic, specify your email for our feedback and please make sure that the 'Attach Log File' checkbox is marked. This will help us to find a reason for this issue.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunatelly, I couldn't send you the error report while error that I described never appeared again. When I try to open old project (solution) it just shows disabled project.
However, I followed your steps and managed to keep git history with new solution/folder
