    Hi all,

In the next version of TWS, we'll be able to get all the metadata in the profile (objects permissions, Layout Assignment, etc...)?

    Thanks

      Hi,

As usually with profiles it depends on the set of metadata that you are retrieving from Salesforce together with profile(s).

We're introducing the force pull option that will pull whatever you've selected no matter if there were any changes or no - in this case you should be able to get whatever you need in a profile, but you'll need to retrieve virtually everything, if you need everything in the profile.

At the same time - doing single-threaded pull is very time-consuming operation (e.g. retrieving ~10k items or more from Salesforce) - starting from certain numbers even Ant migration tool will fail retrieving such package from Salesforce (due to the huge timeout on Salesforce's side). At the moment the pull process in the IDE uses multiple separate retrieve requests grouped by metadata type and we are also very actively (yes, still :)) thinking on applying the same approach to the project creation process. In such case with separate retrieve requests - as you might guess profiles won't have everything, as they will be retrieved separately.

Taking into account overall complexity of working with profiles and a huge overhead that it adds to the regular day-to-day tasks and a lack of normal solution for it even when using anything else (except SFDX, I believe) I think that for now we'll leave the multi-threaded retrieve process, while in one of the next versions we might add an option to do retrieves in one thread (but on your own risk in terms of performance, time-outs, etc.) - then it will be possible to get whatever you need in profiles.

      Hope this helps :)

      Best regards,

      Vladimir

                Hi Ilan,

                Thank you for your question.

You can see your custom buttons and links in a related object's xml file.

To download custom buttons to your project, please use the 'Force pull from salesforce' command. Here you can find more info about this functionality.

If you would have any additional questions, please let me know.

                Regards,

                Kate
