I saw a demo of the Welkin Suite as part of the Portland Developers Group yesterday and was very impressed this morning I'm trying to evaluate the product and I'm running into issues setting up my Project.

    1. File New Project

    2. Enter Salesforce Sandbox Information (not OAuth)

I've verified that all of my credentials are correct.  It doesn't appear to have any problems downloading the MetaData for our org, so its able to connect.

    3. Choose Components

I'm just leaving the default components selected.

    4. Synchronize Project - False, Ant Support - True (default)

    5. Your project is on its way to you...

    Results in the following error:

Sorry, we couldn't download your project files

    Possible reasons:

    - Problems with internet connect (I'm not having problems with any other tools, including MavenMate)

    - Maintenance works at Salesforce (Not sure how to check for this, but again other apps aren't having issues)

    - Invalid username/password (I've confirmed they are correct and it was able to download MetaData)

    - Security token i snot specified or incorrect while IP is not whitelisted (Security token has been correctly provided)

    Thanks!

      Greetings,

Thank you for your contacting us with this information.

I kindly ask you to reproduce the issue one more time and right after this please send us a bug report directly from The Welkin Suite.

You can find this option in the Main Menu -> Help -> Report a Bug. You can paste the link to this post as the description of your issue. Please enable the 'Attach Log File' checkbox at the bottom of the 'Report a Bug' window.

This way we will get your log file that can help us to understand the reason for the issue you are faced with.

      Thank you,

      Kate

I Reported the Bug from within the software and also took a look at the log file that was attached.  It appears the issue had something to do with invalid characters in static resources.  I removed static resources from the chosen components in Step #3 and everything worked.  I'll take a look at our static resources to see if I can tell what might have caused the problems.

        Thanks,

        Cory

          Hi Cory,

Thank you for your bug report.

We have gotten your Activity Log file.

The reason for your issue is exactly some specific symbols in the name of a Static Resources file. This can be one of the next cases in the:

          • any of the following characters: / ? : & \ * " < > | # %
          • Unicode control characters
          • surrogate characters
          • system reserved names, including CON, AUX, PRN, COM1 or LPT2

This is known issue to us.

The file that causes this can be created on your disk locally, but the Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Shell (Isolated) doesn't work with the specific symbols. TWS uses some instrument of this.

We will solve the issue that the incorrect error appears and the appropriate messages will be present instead of this.

          Regards,

          Kate

            Hi Cory,

I hope you are doing well.

I want to inform you that our developers solved the current issue, and now you won't be faced with any error - the IDE handles this case now.

I'll close this topic as 'Fixed'.

If you would have any other questions, please contact us. We will be happy to answer them.

            Regards,

Hey Kate, I just got this same (similar message) error when trying to setup a new Salesforce Sandbox for a client. First time using this login, but works in the org and freshly created security token. Gets all the way to "Your project is on the way......" then either hangs or posts the error message below.

Update: unchecking Static Resources also resolved my issue, but perhaps this bug is still alive... I don't think I will need access to static resources for this project, but perhaps in the future.

                Hi Kurt,

Thank you for contacting us with this issue.

We got your bug report, and according to your log files, the reason for the issue is another.

There is the exceeded limit for a file path: the specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory path must be less than 248 characters.

Looks like some static resource is located too deep in a project structure or it has a too long name.

As a workaround, you can create a project in another folder that has a shorter path.

As a side note, there is an ability to change this limit in a Register Editor on Windows 10.

                Regards,

                Kate

                  So,

I'm on a mac and I'm experiencing this issue of not being able to download the files after the app accepting the login credentials and displaying the files.  In fact, my entire project team is experiencing this issue on a mix of Macs & PCs.

Since I'm installing into my user directory, there's not much more of a shorter file path for me other than the root of my drive.  I don't think I'm creating the project there.  Is there no alternative short of using another IDE?

                    Hi Alex,

                    Thank you for your post.

The reason for the issue can be another one - this is why I kindly ask you to send us a bug report directly from the IDE right after the issue would be reproduced for again. You can find this option in the menu Help -> Report a Bug. Please enable the 'Attach Log File' checkbox - this way we will receive your log files and they will help us to understand if the reason for the issue is the same or other conditions cause this behavior.

Is the issue reproduced when you create a project without static resources also?

                    Thank you,

                    Kate
